There's No Place Like Home!

The final was insane.  After 48 hours of researching, proofreading, editing, and repeating (times 50), I took the last 10 minutes of my allotted time to work up the nerve to hit the "Submit" button. I was consoled by a pop-up stating that it would be TWO weeks before I received my results...what in the world am I going to do with myself?

Luckily, my parents had been plotting.  My mom had e-mailed me a week or two before my final and asked me how I would feel about flying up to South Dakota to surprise my sister.  How would I feel???  Do you even need to ask that question?  My sister is my best friend - no way was I going to pass up any opportunity to see her AND my parents AND my family AND our doggies!  My tickets were booked and on the morning of October 8th I made my way to Tampa International, where I flew to Denver, met up with my daddy, and drove home to good ol' South Dakota!  My dad had been at a clinic in Colorado and my sister was expecting his return that night.  He told her to come in and give him a hug and tell him good night when she got home from work...little did she know that I would be waiting under the covers for her :)

Needless to say, Em was very surprised.  I just love surprises, although I will admit it was quite the challenge not to spill the beans about the whole thing.  I have been thoroughly enjoying being home - seeing old friends, spending time with my family, relaxing and indulging in the beautiful fall colors.  Hubby has been surviving (I would assume...and hope??) down in FL on his own pretty well...I have yet to receive a phone call telling me that the house burned down or anything of the sort, so I will  hope that means he and the critters are still kickin'.  This trip was perfect timing - Hubby and I have been in a bit of a funk lately and haven't been getting along the greatest.  I can't help but attribute that to my being literally trapped in the house all day, every day while he has the vehicle at work.  It also doesn't help when he wants to spend his weekends fishing rather than with me.  But my whining will be saved for another post - for now, I'm going to be happy and enjoy every second I get to spend with my family!
