Hubs and I Throughout the Years

If you haven't already seen on either my Facebook page, Twitter, or Instagram, today is Hubby and I's first marriage anniversary.  I thought what could possibly be more fitting than telling you all how it began?  Perhaps posting pictures of us throughout the years which, yes, would be a little better than having to read the story, but I'll meet you in the middle: How about a little bit of both?  Boring story, picture of Hubs and I, more rambling, picture of Hubster and I, and so on and so forth?  April fools, my mild OCD won't allow me to break up the text so much (I just now realized how many pictures I want to post), so instead I'll post the story first and then you can merrily scroll your way through the photos afterwards.  Mkay, pumpkin?  Sound like a fair trade?  Good, I knew you'd come around.  ;)

Ehemmmm *best story teller voice* It was a dark and stormy night in a spooky, abandoned, crusty old house...nah, I'm just playing.  It was the summer of 2008 - I had a boyfriend who had just moved to Hawaii (his dad is in the Air Force) and I was just starting my new job at Reptile Gardens, a tourist attraction with tons of spooky reptiles, birds, gators, lizards, (you get the picture).  I met Hubs for the first time when I was working in the "dome".  The dome was basically like a greenhouse where different kinds of lizards ran free, tons of exotic orchids bloomed and thrived, and tropical birds were placed on perches to be displayed each morning.  Turns out, ol' Hubby was a bird guy.  I was standing in the dome supervising the wildlife (crazy tourists included) when Hubby came in to check on the birds.  The only reason I remembered this was because he kept his retarded looking white Electric sunglasses on...inside...pretty sure it was also a cloudy day out, which made it that much odder.  But, I was back to trying to discretely text my boyfriend from behind a bush in no time, completely unconcerned with Hubby and his odd sunglasses and short khaki shorts.

Our next run in was in the break room.  It was extremely crowded that day and there was only one chair empty...next to Hubby and his odd bird trainer friends - yippee skipee!  I asked Hubby if I could sit next to him and quietly crunched on my pretzels.  I remember leaving the break room that day before my break was completely over - it was far too awkward.

Summer quickly came to an end.  I was back to school and hadn't thought about Hubs since the last time I saw him.  We had a substitute teacher in speech class for close to 2 months, Mrs. Howie, who (long story short) ended up becoming more of a second mother to me than a sub.  My bestie E and I would go over to her house to hang out, we would go shopping with her, and well - you get the picture.  One day Mrs. Howie brought up me having worked at Reptile Gardens the previous summer and stated that a student from another of her classes at different high school had worked there as well.  She went on and on talking about how cute he was and about how he remembered me (and also kept telling her how cute he thought I was, but he knew I was off limits because I had a boyfriend at the time).  Mrs. Howie gave me his number and gave him mine as well, but we only texted literally once.  I tried to get him to ask me to his school's prom, but he wasn't catching my drift (unfortunately).  After that, I kinda lost interest.  After all, I was only a junior and had the attention span of a goldfish.

After having broken up with my previous boyfriend, I finally gave Hubster another try.  I texted him.  We hung out.  I thought he was the weirdest person I had ever met and actually told E, she will testify on this to this very day, that I would never ever ever date him!  We continued to hang out.  Had our first kiss on July 4, 2009 (fireworks and all, folks!), and were officially an item as of October 25, 2009.  Hubby and I were sitting in the parking lot of the ice hockey rink where he played, and Hubs asked me if I would be his official girlfriend as I was getting in my car.  I hesitantly said yes.  And now here we are, after many ups and downs and everything in between, almost 3 years later!  Do I need to make you a cup of coffee to attempt to rejuvenate you after that big long speal?  *Checks for your pulse*  Oh great, you're still kickin'!

Now, death by pictures!  P.S.: These are in chronological order so you can see us throughout the years :)

Fact #9:  As stated in my story, I actually stated aloud to my best friend that I would never even consider dating Hubby.  Crazy how things work out, isn't it? :)
