Camping in a House

The title says it all, guys. We are literally roughing it in our house. We signed the lease yesterday, but since Hubby's in-processing took way longer than expected (about 6 hours longer than expected) we didn't sign the lease until 4. Having it been so late, we were unable to get to the utility provider quick enough so we were stuck without water for the day.

As soon as Hubby got back to the house after even more in-processing this morning, we made our way to the utility provider. We felt SO LUCKY that we had made it there in time-since it's Friday, our services wouldn't have been started until Monday if we were there any later. So overjoyed with the thoughts of a nice shower on our minds, we made the trek back to the house to discover that our water heater is a propane tank...and we hadn't set up gas services yet. A frantic phone call that ended after being on hold for 30 minutes and speaking with a representative for a grand total of 5 minutes, we were informed that an inspection needed to be performed in order for them to begin providing gas-they basically needed to make sure that everything is kosher and that we wouldn't be blowing the neighborhood to smithereens. Of course they didn't have time today and wouldn't be available until Monday. So Hubby and I braved the icey cold waters of the bathroom shower, barely dodging hypothermia. I'm hoping it won't be so bad these next two days but am definitely not holding my breath.

On a brighter note, I deep cleaned the kitchen cabinets today and Hubby cleaned the windows of the house. We also were surprised by the visit of our first guest: (the placement of this picture will probably be strange-I can't control it's positioning via my phone.)

We are getting Internet set up on Tuesday (hallelujah!) so I will hopefully be back on track soon. Have a good weekend everyone!

  2. Our neighbor girl told us that our housing development is practically in the middle of some type of reserve...she also said there are armadillos, opossums, raccoons, bobcats, cotton mouth snakes, and there used to be a gator in the pond behind our house! Quite the zoo...
